Childbirth is a unique experience for everyone.  It is important to form a relationship with your doula prior to the delivery so there is trust between the mother-to-be and her her support system.  Prenatal meetings are an opportunity to discuss hopes and desires for the birth as well as to prepare for the day with knowledge and understanding of the options.

Labor and Delivery Support

  • Support at onset of active labor

  • Doula services in the house and/or the hospital

  • Continued support until an hour after the birth

  • Lactation support immediately after the birth as needed

  • 24 hour on-call availability beginning at 37-weeks

A doula is able to use pain management techniques to help cope with each contraction and to provide you with the physical and emotional support to feel more in control of her labor and delivery experience.  It is important for the mother to have a constant support system throughout the entire process. With a doula in the room, this becomes a comforting reality. People who have the care of a doula are less likely to need a cesarean section, anesthesia or synthetic oxytocin. They are also more likely to view their birth with positive feelings.
